The Golovec hill rises at the eastern side of Ljubljana city. It has a number of well-maintained recreational and biking routes. Its name derives from the fact, that the hill wasn’t afforested until 1890, when they started with the intentional afforestation. There are several springs on Golovec. In Roman times (II. Century B.C.), Golovec provided the main supply of water for the city. Nowdays you and your furry friend can hike on Golovec in search of antique remains, or visit the astronomical observatory tower on the top.
