koseski-bajerNearly 200 years ago clay pits situated on the western side of the Šišenski hrib, near Mostec, were closed down and were immediately flooded by water, creating a pond. Today the pond is two or three meters deep and measures 200 meters across. »Bajer«, as the locals like to name it, is a popular sporting centre. It’s surrounded by a nice half-wooded walking trail, many benches to sit on and even a large dock, where people gather and enjoy the peaceful view of the water. In summer, model motorboat races are held, which attract a nice crowd of viewers. Fishing is also a popular activity. Swimming is not advised due to clay remains. During winter, the lake becomes a well visited ice-skating area. For a dog owner, Bajer represents a nice social getaway, not far from the city’s centre.
