Rakitna lies in the heart of the great Karst plateau at 800 metres of altitude in the centre of Krimsko – Mokriško mountains. It is known for its gentle climate, due to the mixing of Mediterranean and Alpine air flows. The lake on Rakitna is a popular excursion point and a starting point for many walking and hiking trails. In summer the lake becomes a swimming area and in the winter you can go ice-skating on it. In close proximity, there’s an archaeological study trail, where you can walk around the remains of the Roman defensive walls and tower (Claustra Alpium Iuliarum) and learn about old cultures and their habits. Your dog is, of course, welcome to join the adventure.
