Rožnik is a hill near Ljubljana’s centre and a popular hiking destination for people living in Ljubljana and its suburbs. The top of the hill, at 429 m, is named Šišenski hrib. The more popular, Cankarjev hrib (394 m) is named after a Slovenian writer Ivan Cankar, who lived there for a short part of his life. Today the old farm operates an inn and a museum, dedicated to Cankar. Rožnik is also a popular spot for celebrating Labour Day on the 1st of May, when a bonfire is lit each year. Dogs that join their owners on a hike to Rožnik are well taken care of. There is fresh water on the top and quite a few nice shaded spots to rest, as well as enough room to romp and play with the good company you are sure to encounter.
